Highlights

  • Coverage from about 40 kHz to 30 MHz (VLF through HF).
  • Compact, stealthy element: three-section aluminum whip, approx. 2.6 m (8.5 ft).
  • DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Unit (included): high-impedance buffer between short element and 75 Ω coax.
  • Excellent strong-signal handling: +39 dBm TOI (third-order intercept).
  • Flat gain response across band: ±0.4 dB.
  • Selectable internal gain via jumper: −6 dB / 0 dB / +6 dB to suit noise environment and element size.
  • Low visual impact; stainless hardware; insulated mounting plate; optimized for quiet RX away from metallic structures.
  • Use singly or as part of 2 / 4 / 8-element phased arrays for directivity and noise reduction.

Applications

  • MW/LW broadcast DXing; LF/VLF monitoring
  • HF receive antenna for contesting and everyday operation
  • Phased receive arrays for directivity and noise rejection
  • Portable and expedition receive systems

Installation Notes

  • Mount at ground level on a ground rod in a clear area away from metal, towers, buildings, power lines, and other antennas.
  • Provide a good RF ground/counterpoise per manual guidance.
  • Route coax cleanly; use quality 75 Ω cable; weatherproof all outdoor connections.
  • Adjust the AVA-3 internal gain jumper (−6/0/+6 dB) to match local noise conditions and element length.

Package & Compatibility

  • Sold individually as DXE-RSEAV-1; also available bundled with bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI), and in 2/4/8 element sets.
  • Works with DX Engineering phasing/combining systems for receive arrays.

FAQ

Can I transmit with the RSEAV-1?
No. It is a receive-only antenna and cannot be used for transmitting.
What feedline should I use?
Quality 75 Ω RG-6U (quad-shield flooded recommended for outdoor/direct-burial runs).
Can I use multiple elements in a phased array?
Yes. 2, 4, or 8-element arrays are supported with appropriate phasing/combining units.
