Portable all-mode performance for field radio
The Yaesu FTX-1 Field is built for SOTA, POTA, travel, emergency communications and compact home operation. It combines Yaesu’s high-performance SDR receiver technology, HF/50/144/430 MHz amateur-band operation, C4FM digital, wide receive coverage, a 4.3 inch colour touchscreen and battery-powered portability in one rugged field-ready radio.
Overview
The FTX-1 Field is the portable version of Yaesu’s FTX-1 series. It uses the compact Field Head transceiver and includes the SBR-52LI 6400 mAh Li-ion battery for stand-alone operation. With the battery attached, the radio provides up to 6 W output, or 5 W and below in QRP operation. Connect an external 13.8 V DC supply and the Field Head can deliver up to 10 W while also charging the battery. The radio covers HF, 50 MHz, 144 MHz and 430 MHz amateur bands in SSB, CW, AM, FM and C4FM digital modes, with continuous receive coverage from 30 kHz to 174 MHz and 400 MHz to 470 MHz. The Field Head uses BNC-type antenna connectors for HF/50 MHz and 144/430 MHz antenna connections, making it well suited to lightweight portable antenna systems and field coax leads.

Performance Notes and Setup Guidance
For stand-alone operation, attach the SBR-52LI battery to the rear of the Field Head. Use battery power for portable 6 W operation, or connect a regulated 13.8 V DC supply for up to 10 W output and automatic battery charging. For separate battery charging, use a USB Type-C PD charger rated at 45 W or higher with 15 V 2 A capability. For FT8 and other data modes, use the radio’s PRESET mode as a starting point and confirm audio, CAT and PTT settings in your chosen software. The Field Head uses BNC-type antenna connectors, so it pairs especially well with lightweight field coax, portable antennas and compact QRP-style station accessories.
Pack lighter, go further and get on the air wherever the next activation takes you. Add the Yaesu FTX-1 Field to your PileupDX order today and build a portable station ready for the trail, the summit, the campsite and the unexpected opening.
